A Wh- question is a question in English that requests for information. It is called a Wh- question because it usually starts with a word that begins with Wh-. The wh- questions often start with the following: what, when, where, who, whom, which, whose, why, and how. Take note that "how" is also included in the list. It is important for learners to know Wh-questions in order to properly ask questions in daily communication. In this activity, the learners will apply their understanding of the topic by participating in the group activity using the Wh-questions Game Board.
Steps:
The teacher posts sample Wh-questions on the board.
The students are asked to state their observations on the sample questions.
Then, they are introduced to the lesson on Wh-questions.
A short discussion about the said topic should ensue.
A short individual exercise should also be given to students.
Once done, the students are divided into 5 groups in order to practice constructing Wh-questions as part of the drills.
Each group is given a die, game piece, and Wh-questions Game Board.
Each group should also assign a discussion director who will facilitate the activity.
Their task is to roll the die and come up with a Wh-question based on the image in the square the die will land on. The discussion director checks whether the answer is correct or incorrect. If the answer is incorrect, the player should remain on its spot.
The students take turns in playing the Game Board.
Whoever gets to the finish line first will be the winner.
