This is a lesson from a family friend who is a high school teacher. .Students have their own world and obviously they are from another generation. That means our interests may or may not be the same but more likely they are not the same. When connecting with a younger generation you have to speak their language, so to speak. That means their interest will only be there when you are speaking about relevant things like the fashion with those denims with torn knees or the color of the hair. Don’t be old fashioned.

In order to make the lessons relevant , teachers are expected to connect the lessons to real - life / familiar situations. Teachers should be aware of the situations which his/ her students might have experienced or observed . It could be family problems , peer conflicts , relationships and anything related to human nature. Values should be integrated to make the lesson relatable and deepen their understanding of the concepts.

It is always an advantage that a child or any person can relate on a certain topic. This will allow them to speak for their thoughts and be able to interact among others. Having a connection means belongingness. It also helps an individual to boost their confidence and be appreciated. It is hard to earn the trust of a child. It is always a great challenge for the teachers to be able to find ways and understand a personality of a child.

This is indeed true. You need to make common ground with somebody in order to have a good foundation of the conversations that will take place between the two of you. It's certainly best if the conversations are relevant to the both of you so that communication barriers will be avoided.
