"CGP books are just excellent books in general. They are clearly laid out for the pupil to understand in colour and some of them contain the answers. Others may have an additional book to so with it that contains the answers. The illustrations are also good. I would recommend this books." - Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 August 2016

"This is a large (170 page) colourful and well laid out revision workbook. This book is aimed at KS3, which as my son is in Year 7, is perfect for him. The book contains eight sections: General Stuff (numbers, time, meeting and greeting, etc), You, Family and Home, School and Jobs, Town, Shopping, Food & Drink, Free Time, Hobbies and Transport, Letters, Weather, Holidays and Countries and Grammar and Phrases.
The back of the book contains an audio CD (some reviews listed state there was no CD enclosed - the CD should be included, so check with the seller that it is before you purchase). Throughout the book are ‘Listening Questions’ which correspond to tracks on the CD. There is also a transcript of the CD at the back of the book, along with answers to the practice questions. CGP publish some very useful revision books for French – including a Vocab Tester, Study Guide and Workbook. This combines a study guide with some useful practice questions and the audio CD also helps pronunciation. This is a useful book for children learning French and covers the vocabulary and grammar needed for KS3."- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 February 2016

"I spent the first half of 2015 learning to speak French using an online website after numerous failed attempts over the years to pick up French on my own. I was satisfied with the results overall reaching a reasonable standard of French reading, mostly suitable for French news. So when I saw the KS3 French by CPG Books I thought I would it a go to see how well I spent my time. One thing I had done when using the online website was scribble done a mountain of notes in the process and now much to my satisfaction I throw all that away as this KS3 is a handy replacement for all those notes as most of what I covered online is in the handy book. The presentation of the book is great with nice clear text on a large A4 page and plenty of colour and illustrations and well space for enhanced clarity. Something I do think would enhance the book further would be to include some more of the most common French verbs and their conjugations. Overall I can't complain though as this is intended to cover the basics of French. I'll be using it regularly." - Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 April 2016

Section 6 - Letters
Section 7 - Weather, Holidays and Countries
Section 8 - Grammar and Phrases
Each section has practice questions and summary questions. Answers to the practice questions are provided at the back of the book. The book also includes an audio CD." - Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 March 2018

"The whole series of CGP is excellent for additional study in conjunction with schoolwork or for homeschoolers. The layout in the book is easy to assimilate.
Lots of little drawings reinforce the meanings of words. It is going right back to basics. Before moving onto more complex sentences.
The more confident you can be with basics the easier it will be to build up a decent vocab.
This is a book and CD meant for revision so revisiting the basics will aid confidence.
The CD included is excellent help for getting the pronunciations correct.
Listen to the disc again and again. That way the sounds of the language will soak in and become easier to repeat.
The CD includes questions to answer in conjunction wit the book so it is not just repeating excerpts from the book.
A Great revision tool for passing exams
.I am going to see if I can revive my French which was ok for a beginner but has now faded through lack of use." - Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 June 2016

"The CGP guides are excellent and this is no exception. My wife has been a teacher for nearly forty years and when she saw this was from cgp she said "they're really good, I use them all the time". This consists of a book and a CD; it is aimed at KS3, year 7, 11 year olds and is intended for revision and practise. It is jam packed with useful information which is very clearly presented. There are also a number of tests. Recommended." - Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 May 2016

"As always from CGP, a readable, engaging resource, this time for French students in Years 7-9, and providing a solid grounding for GCSE. It isn't the entire syllabus, by any means, but there are reminders of grammar rules, regular and irregular verbs, a solid basic grammar and lots of short practical exercises, the answers to which are given at the back of the book. Each section has summary questions, designed to be answered independently, without recourse to the learning pages.
There is good use of graphics to aid understanding, which is particularly useful for vocabulary. There are clearly labelled and well-drawn items of clothing for example, along with a colour chart to name the basic colours. This is helpfully put alongside the clothing vocabulary, as identifying the colour of clothes is the most likely use of colour vocabulary at this level. Sensible arrangements like this are what makes this book particularly valuable. Clear full colour photographs are also used
Many of the pages have useful footnotes highlighted in tips boxes to encourage learning, such as 'You'll need to know this if you get lost on an exchange visit' and 'Teachers always ask you about this stuff'.
The accompanying CD of spoken French plays well on both laptops and CD players. Native French speakers are used, and the pace is just right - not too fast, or annoyingly slow.
Each phrase is repeated so that the risk of mishearing is minimised, and the questions to test knowledge of the vocabulary are easy to understand.
Summary: A solid sizeable (163 page) resource which will take children through the first three years of learning the language and provide a solid grounding for further learning in Years 10 and 11." - Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 February 2016

"CGP are so good at revision guides and this volume is as good as you would expect from them! Complete with an audio CD with pronunciations in the back, (which in itself is worth the price), this book takes you through the key learning points of years 7,8 & 9. You learn the basics, like numbers, dates, times and meeting and greeting. Like all sections there are practice questions and answers too! Every page has the typical GCP layout- use of colour, arrows leading you to key parts and helpful illustrations.
The book then goes onto you, your family & home, school & jobs, hobbies, transport, writing letters, holidays, weather and countries. The final section deals with grammar and useful phrases.
Whereas this is probably not as vital as the GCSE volume, it really gives focus to your child on the language and is great for revisiting the material - especially for practicing pronunciation.
A really well thought through book that will help your child in their studies." - Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 February 2016

"Yet another super study book/ revision workbook from CGP. This book is aimed at KS3, ie school Year 7. Well made, good use of colour. The audio CD is also excellent, I have played this on a CD player and computer drive both work well. Really good to be able to hear the french words as well as read them. This revison book contains eight sections: General Stuff.. a good relaxed title like the whole book really ( such as telling the time saying hello and things like that), You, Family and Home, School and Jobs, Town, Shopping, Food & Drink, Free Time, Hobbies and Transport, Letters, Weather, Holidays and Countries and Grammar and Phrases. There are answers, questions and a really good index. Overall I am very impressed as always with CGP" - Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 February 2016

"This revision book is designed specifically for school children who have studied French for 3 years at secondary school. Its range is broad and it offers many helpful tips to aid recall. As well as highlighting areas for exam questions, it does so with a lot of humour and makes revising more interesting. It is enhanced by colour throughout and has numerous drawings and diagrams to further assist recall. It will also prove interesting, stimulating and helpful to adults studying on their own, but it is not a language course; they should not expect it to be all-embracing. It is simply intended to help revise areas of the language already studied using other resources. As such, it does its job well and has to be recommended." - Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 February 2016

"Love this. Structured functionally around vocabulary and useful phrases for specific situations, with basic practical grammar, it is a gem of a book for the absolute basics. Not Exactly economical with space, the large script and acres of blank paper means that eyes are concentrated on single items which on the whole are the most useful greetings or bases for a plethora of interchangeable vocabulary. This is just as useful for adults wanting a very basic beginners self teach book as for school children. The CD is absoluty invaluable if only for prounciation and intonation." - Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 February 2016

"I got this book for my 12-year old daughter who is in year 7 and has just recently taken up French as one of her subjects. This is a really useful learning and revision tool for her. It covers various topics from the KS3 syllabus - the design and layout are engaging and she really enjoys working on the exercises. The CD exercises are useful too in getting her used to aural comprehension." - Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 February 2016

"This is a first class book to assist a secondary school pupil with their French. It is easy to follow, clear and full of examples and tests. Perfect for revision and focused on what your child needs to know. The CD is great for practice. too. This will help my French speaking wife help my son with exam focused French. I wish I had had one of these when I was at school. This is going to be put to very good use in the next few years. An excellent resource. Highly recommended. ." - Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 February 2016
